研讀《實用佛教》善用般若　廣義之財發發發 (Exploring “Practical Buddhism”: Prajna Wisdom and Broad-Spectrum Wealth)

【羅蘭第一分會日訊 Pan Xiao Hsia撰文】03/27/2024— 羅蘭第一分會進行線上讀書會，由輔導法師妙觀法師指導7位會員研讀《佛光教科書第六冊實用佛教》，完成第三課「般若的妙用」及第四課「佛教對經濟的看法」。「般若」就是「智慧」，妙觀法師指出「智」字內含「日」，象徵光明，般若如「光」，能照破眾生累劫的無明，「千年暗室，一燈即明」。用般若生活，人生能有能無，能大能小，能前能後，能多能少，自在快樂！至於經濟，除了狹義的金錢， 佛教也重視廣義之財富，例如：佛法、信仰、慈悲、智慧、健康、歡喜、人緣、自在、慚愧、發心、道德、人格等。胡巧容說：「真高興！我們真富有！」

On March 27, 2024, Rowland Heights Subchapter 1 conducted an online study session led by Guiding Venerable Miao Guan, with seven members focusing on studying “Practical Buddhism,” the sixth volume of the Buddha Light Educational Series. They completed the third lesson on the “Wondrous Application of Prajna” and the fourth lesson on “Buddhist Views on Economics.”

Prajna, or wisdom (智慧, zhì huì), as emphasized by Ven. Miao Guan, is symbolized by the word “智,” where the character for “日” (rì) is contained within, symbolizing brightness. Prajna, akin to light, dispels the darkness of ignorance accumulated by sentient beings over countless lifetimes; as the saying goes, “In a dark room of a thousand years, one lamp dispels the darkness.”By effectively applying prajna in life, one can transcend limitations in all aspects, such as the ability to have or not, to progress or regress, to possess abundance or scarcity, leading to a state of ease and happiness.

Concerning economics, Buddhism values not only narrow definitions of wealth like money but also broader forms of wealth, including the Dharma, faith, compassion, wisdom, health, joy, relationships, freedom, remorse, aspiration, morality, and character. Anna Hu exclaimed, “I’m truly delighted! We are truly wealthy!”
