「會長與您有約」「侘寂」—美在不完美 (“President’s Date with You” – Embracing Wabi-Sabi: Beauty in Imperfection)

【羅蘭第一分會日訊 Pan Xiao Hsia撰文】04/06/2024—羅蘭第一分會會長潘青霞的「會長與您有約」行程包括西來寺早課，再與會員李宏莉 (Bindruya) 參與在核桃市Snow Creek公園的戶外瑜伽普拉提，接著潘會長回到西來寺用午齋，以參觀佛光緣美術館西來館「陶瓷和紡織品與大自然的循環關係」展覽結束。

潘會長表示，藝術家悉璃鑼．多米內(Cirilo Domine)在展覽簡介提到，紡織品和陶瓷是對「侘」(日文侘びWabi)的沉思，因為兩者的製作過程都有不可預測性。她進一步研究，發現「侘寂」一詞（日文wabi-sabi）係起源於受禪宗影響的日本美學，不強調追求完美無瑕，而是珍視生活中不永恆，但自然與樸實的瞬間，「美在不完美」，這對她啟發很大。

April 6, 2024— President Pan’s “President’s Date with You” agenda features President Pan of Rowland Heights Subchapter 1 attending the morning chanting at Hsi Lai Temple, participating in outdoor yoga and Pilates at Snow Creek Park in Walnut with member Bindruya. The day continues with President Pan returning to Hsi Lai Temple for lunch, and concludes with a visit to the Fo Guang Yuan Hsi Lai Art Gallery for the exhibition “Circular Relations with Nature: Ceramics and Textiles.”

President Pan expressed that artist Cirilo Domine, in the exhibition introduction, mentioned that textiles and ceramics reflect contemplation on “wabi” (Japanese: 侘び), as both processes involve unpredictability. Upon further research, she discovered that the term “wabi-sabi” originates from Chan-influenced Japanese aesthetics, emphasizing not the pursuit of flawless perfection but cherishing the impermanent and naturally simple moments in life. “Beauty lies in imperfection,” which greatly inspired her.
